We are so glad that you’ve taken a moment to visit the Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church website. Here, we practice Radical Hospitality, which means we strive to welcome and embrace all people as Christ has welcomed us—without reservation, with open arms, and with a heart full of grace. Our mission is to bring people closer to Christ, and we believe that by following the will and way of the Lord, we can make a true difference in our lives, our community, and in the
world.
As we embark on this journey together, we are engaging in the Genesis Project, a theme inspired by the opening words of Scripture: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Just as God created a beautiful world and breathed life into it, we believe that God is able to create New Beginnings, New Chapters, and New Opportunities in the life of our church, in the neighborhood of Deanwood, and beyond.
At Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church, we offer a variety of ways to grow in faith. Our Sermon Series, Bible Studies, and engaging events and activities provide opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. We believe that God has a unique plan for each of us, and we invite you to join us as we seek to discover and live out that plan.
Whether you are new to the area, new to church, or simply seeking a place to grow closer to Christ, we invite you to join us on Sunday mornings for worship. Feel free to bring a family member or close friend, as we gather together to worship, learn, and experience the love of God in community.
We look forward to meeting you and walking with you on this exciting journey of faith!
Yours in Christ,
Reverend Dr. Brian Keith McCollum, M.Div., M.S.
Joseph’s words, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good,” capture the redemptive beauty of August’s series. This month proclaims restoration… how God turns pain into purpose. It’s a message of empowerment for those who’ve been wounded by life but redeemed by grace. The supporting scriptures remind us that weakness invites God’s strength, and loss sets the stage for divine multiplication. Click here for more information!
Joseph’s life is proof that painful experiences do not have to define our future. He experienced betrayal, rejection, injustice, and disappointment, yet God was working even when Joseph could not see the bigger picture. The pain was real, but so was God’s purpose. We may not understand why certain things happened, but we can trust that God has the power to redeem what was meant to hurt us and use it for something greater. Click here to learn more!
Discover the inspiring story of educator and civil rights leader Septima Poinsette Clark, whose commitment to education and justice transformed setbacks into opportunities for lasting impact. Her journey reminds us that even when doors close, God’s grace is sufficient, our purpose remains, and the grind can become the place where God’s strength shines brightest. Join us as we connect Clark’s remarkable legacy to our Broken to Blessed message, “Grace in the Grind.” Click here for more information!

At Sargent Memorial Presbyterian Church, we believe that sharing God's love means caring for our neighbors in practical ways. Through our Evangelism Ministry's Fill the Fridge initiative, we're collecting non-perishable food items and financial donations to help provide meals and essential groceries for children and families experiencing food insecurity. Whether you donate canned goods, pantry staples, snacks, or make a monetary gift toward fresh food purchases, every contribution helps make a difference. Together, we can be the hands and feet of Christ, bringing hope, nourishment, and compassion to those who need it most.
